The Day I Got My Virtual Life Back

After waiting for one whole month for our ADSL2+ connection, it finally got activated TODAY. I haven't turned my laptop on for a few weeks because there was no need to, kept going online with my iPhone and the 3G connection... imagine only having 150mb of data per month! I could finish that in a jiffy! Pfffffff.

Moved out from the apartment into the new house last month. I wasn't keen at first... thinking that I wouldn't have the comfort of sitting in the passenger seat, being sent to and picked up from the office every single working day... after staying here for a month - which is how long I've taken the bus to work - everything is turning out to be PERFECT.

On the 23rd of August 2010...

Had breakfast at the restaurant downstairs before we left New Farm.

Packed and said goodbye to the three years we've been here.

The movers were two hours late!!! Rui and I helped out so that we didn't have to pay that much - they charged AU$100 an hour, $25 more compared to the rate five years ago.

Hello, Hello!

My favourite room

The main bathroom

Master bedroom

Walk-in-robe :D

Front lawn

Main door

Study

Overlooking the main living area from the second living area.
I really love the door a lot.

Laundry room

Second bathroom

So-called powder room

The outdoor spa... have yet to try this too -_-''

It took me a few hours just to thoroughly vacuum the whole house - 5 rooms, two living areas, the laundry and the hallways. It felt as if it was equivalent to 6 months worth of housework in the apartment! Rui took a few hours to mop too. Luckily the previous owners left it in a good and pretty clean state, but still... :)

So, we bought Roomba to help us out with the vacuuming and since the day it came home with us, it has made our lives easier. Plus, it was on sale at Harvey Norman! They slashed the price from $500 to $390, so it was a bargain ;)

The other good thing about the house is that it is equipped with security alarms and sensor lights. Rui also bought an IP cam for extra security. We will be able to control it from wherever in the world as long as there is Internet connection. :D

Pre-settlement Inspection

We went to inspect our house this morning. Saw the seller cleaning the house and she said that we are so young to be buying the place :) This was the first time for me to ACTUALLY see the house in detail because the first when we inspected it, I was busy filling up a form -_-''

All is good! Getting the keys on Monday after work. Then off to Melbourne on Friday night to see Chuang and the family.

Drove to Ikea this morning to look at the furniture. Luckily the traffic wasn't bad since today's voting day. We then went to the pre-settlement date inspection, after that... DFO! Mummy did some shopping and we bought a king size bed sheet... sigh, better bring back some bed sheets from Malaysia next time! Had dinner at Hog's Breath with Charlene and Benson. Thank you for dinner!

Red

I think I bought this OPI Swiss set as my birthday present.

I'm still unsure whether Rui allows me to get myself more pressies :P

Gave mummy a break, so I bought sushi home for dinner.

Returned my brother's call and talked to Jake for a while. I heard koko asking "Do you want to talk to Mai Jas?"... and Jake replied "Yessss". SO CUTE!

Jake, "Haiiiiii!"
Me, "Hiii Jake!"
Jake, "Is popo coming back?"
Me, "-_____- Yesss, she is going back soon. Do you want to speak to popo?"
Jake, "Yesssss"
Passed the phone to mummy and I think Jake asked about crocodiles and stuff. She said it's cold out there, that's why we didn't visit the crocs, then Jake went "is there snow?!"

If only I get to be with him 24/7!!! I miss everyone back home. So thankful that I have Rui and mummy here with me.

We'll have to start packing this weekend. Pre-settlement date inspection on Saturday! Woohoo!!! My colleague has also purchased a new house but he has 30years worth of packing to do, whereas I, only three. I wouldn't have the heart to leave a house after 30 years... there's just too many memories. Told koko that I don't ever want to move again after this. Better stay put at one house for the rest of my life, unless the next house is better than the current one :P

HK Drama

We're currently watching The Men of Justice (法網群英) and it's pretty good, somewhat like CSI / Criminal Minds.

In the 1st episode, Rui and I were like ...
"whoa, 那个aunty/uncle拍的!"
"Yooo... 这个aunty保养得很好"
... because we haven't seen these people acting for a long, long time.

Suddenly, Rui came up with this term "他们是九十年代的人" (translated into 'they are stars from the 90s'). 吕颂贤还是酱帅。

Furniture

Just spent a little over 2k for one king mattress, one queen mattress and a queen bed frame at Harvey Norman. My colleagues have been telling me to have a house warming at the new place because it is an Australian tradition to do that and it is our first home... well, the furniture wouldn't arrive until at least November, so I guess we'll have to postpone that! :P

9 more days till we move in. I can't wait to show mummy the inside of the house (even when I only saw it once during the house inspection). I have been Googling for interior design ideas... it gets tiring after a while.

P/S: Rui pinky-swore that he will give me AU$2k to buy whatever I want if I get my Queensland driving license this year. Game on, mate!

Everything HAS to be perfect.

Hayman Island Day 5

Checked out and settled the bill. Everything was put on the tab and it was our first time experiencing this – not having to bring any money around the resort throughout our stay, just state your room number and sign away. Spent more than eight hundred dollars on food only… we were more than satisfied :) Took the boat to Hamilton Island and waited for nearly two hours to board the plane back to Brisbane. The minute we reached home, I started preparing dinner and lunch before picking mummy up from the airport. I wish to go back to Hayman Island again.

Hayman Island Day 4

Had breakfast at the Entertainment Center again. Played some table tennis and then off to the beach for some water sports. We saw a sea turtle while sailing on the catamaran. It started to get boring because the wind wasn’t strong enough so we hopped on the kayak and started paddling.

Swam in all the salt-water as well as heated pools in this resort and sunbathed for the rest of the time (from 1pm to 5pm)… so you could imagine that we are like two lobsters being overcooked. I am starting to love the sun!!! Can’t wait for spring to come so that we can head off the the Gold Coast and sunbathe again. The winter weather here isn’t as cold as in Brisbane so I guess everyone would want to flock to this island as it’s listed as one of the leading hotels in the world. Love it when all the staff here (including the cleaners/gardeners… Everyone!) greets you whenever you see them. I’d rate their service 101%.

Since we have tried all the restaurants on the island, it was time for some in-room dining ;) I love it how the waiter/waitress gives an explanation for every dish you order because it is very informative. He even set the table up before placing our food on it.

Entrée: Raw salmon with green papaya salad

Rui's main: Rosemary lamb cutlets

My main: Angus beef steak

Dessert: (Brie) Cheese platter with complimentary crackers
